Should S.I.S Studentsbe Allowed to use Smartphones During School?

Our school is called Saipan International School and it has many strict rules. According to our headmaster, all the rules have a valid meaning to them, making these rules proper to enforce.  One of the most important rules that is disliked by the majority of the S.I.S students is that they are not allowed to use cell phones on the campus while school is in session.  This rule makes a lot of sense from the perspective of enforcing it, but there are also factors that display how the use of cell phones during school is a bad idea.  These issues over the rule are constantly debated by the students and the faculty members of S.I.S.
The view of the teachers and specifically the headmaster is a much more realistic view and is thus easier to hold in place.  However the students view also has an importance in the decision and their view is that cell phones should be allowed during school hours.  Important points that the student body brings up include the fact that something important could come up and thus the student would have to answer his or her phone to reply.  This thing could be as important as a sick or deceased family member or close friend, or maybe there is a community alarm about a dangerous man on the loose and thus the parent would want their daughter of son home.  Students also bring up that their phones can be used in place of their computer, whether the computer is broken, lost, or the student forgot it.  Newer models of smartphones are becoming more advanced and almost all of them are capable of using the internet.  This gives students another reason to try and allow S.I.S to ban the no cell phone rule.  In many other schools on Saipan, students get the privilege to use cell phones during school hours and S.I.S students claim that this is unfair and that if S.I.S wanted to be a better school they should gives students the equality of other commonwealth students.

With many arguments from the student’s side, the teachers and specifically the headmaster are able to counter the students’ arguments.  First of all, if there was an emergency, the parent should call the school instead of the students’ cell phone.  The faculty could then tell the student about the emergency.  If the power was out or the schools land line was not working, then the parent could just drive to school and pick up the student.  Most of the student body does not drive and therefore makes it more realistic to pick them up.  The internet argument also is countered by the demanding of the students to come to class prepared.  If they don’t have their computer or it broke, they owe it to themselves to borrow a family member’s or buy a new one.  If they can’t afford a new computer, then they should not be attending S.I.S in the first place; with the high tuition of the school and such.  Finally, S.I.S reminds students that it is a private school, so the headmaster and the board can make decisions based on their ideas and not the ideas of the P.S.S system.  A private school makes its own minor rules and if the students don’t like the rules, then they should switch schools.

With many arguments over the issue of cell phone use during school hours in S.I.S, students complain and give reasons for their complaints thus wasting some of the faculty members’ time.  In my opinion, students should just drop the subject because in a school like S.I.S, I can’t see the use of cell phones during school hours being approved.  Although the school has allowed cell phones after or before school hours, they most likely won’t allow them during school hours.

Three Things that would make my Life Perfect

I have a very good life compared to other people in the world and I really appreciate it.  However, everyone’s life can be better in some way.  Three realistic things that would make my life perfect are an unlimited amount of money, the love of my life, and a cure to all diseases.  I say an unlimited amount of money because you can do whatever you want with an unlimited amount of money, and I would use some of it on myself, but give a majority of it to charity, keeping in mind the risk of inflation.  I know that the love of my life is somewhere out there in the world and I would want to find her so that I know she would love me for myself, and not for my wealth.  This girl would be perfect for me and we would have the perfect life together.  I mean how couldn’t you have a perfect life with an unlimited amount of money and the woman you love?  The third thing would be a cure for all diseases because diseases are a horrible thing and good people die due to them.  There are also some people in my long line of family that have horrible diseases like cancer and I would love for them to get better.

The first thing that would make my life better would be an unlimited amount of money
because money is one of the most important things in people’s life.  I know that sounds greedy and scummy, but think about it.  How important is money to you, seriously.  Money can give you the life you always wanted, it can let you do whatever you want to, and it is great to have because you basically could have whatever you wanted.  An unlimited amount of money means that you would never become broke.  This unlimited thing could be possible, because there are those money games where you could win big, I mean it could happen that I win the lottery every time, I win all the prizes that give you an amount of money every day for the rest of your life, and I could invest my money in companies that would produce even more money.  Al this is very unlikely, but it is possible.  With all my money, I would buy myself the Hawaiian Islands and own a mansion on each island.  Yeah people would get mad at me, but forget the haters.  I would then invite all my family, friends and friends of my friends to live with me on the island.  We would be able to surf and have fun all the time.  I would pay for my companies utility bills and give them whatever they want.  However, I would also donate a lot of my money to charities.

Secondly, I would have to have the love of my life or my life would not be complete.  This girl would be beautiful, funny, adventurous, understanding, and would love me for myself, and not all my money.  We would spend our life together on our islands and I would let her invite whoever she wants to our home.  You may say that I would eventually get tired of her because she would be living with me my whole life, but this girl is perfect and I know that I would love her forever.

The third thing that would make my life perfect is a cure for all diseases.  People would be very thankful to me and I would be so happy for giving many people a chance to live or keep on living.  Knowing that I can do this would make my life perfect, even without all the money.  There would be an increase in the world population rapidly, but I would hire professional scientists to solve this problem.  For all we know, we could live in glass bubbles on the moon or on Mars.  The future can hold amazing things that don’t even seem possible.

These three things would make my life perfect, but even though I am not likely to own all of these things, I still appreciate my life the way it is.  I am happy with the money my family makes and I will try hard to make a lot as well.  I know that I will find a great girl that will make me very happy, and I guess we are destined to live with diseases until we eventually find a cure for them.

Were people in the Past Friendlier than People Today?

I believe that people in the past were much more friendlier than people living today due to their smaller amount of judgment on the things that others do, wear, or believe in.   In the past, people were much more willing to accept a person based on the person himself or herself.  It all depended on your personality.  Nowadays, people only accept others on their social status, the fact on whether the person is rich, and on the person’s belief or dress style.  Many people in schools nowadays tend to isolate the students that are different, however in the past; students were accepted based on the way their personality was.  People in the past may have seemed a bit mean to some people, but compared to the modern day, the past was a really friendly time.

Compared to the present, the past was a friendlier and safer place.  In the past people would acknowledge you and say good morning or how are you, instead of other people today just ignoring your presence or asking you to do something right away.  In the past, people would be friends with you even if you were not rich or popular.  In the past people actually cared for who you really are.

I remember my parents telling me how easy I had it.  They talked about their parents beating them when they were bad and how many chores they had to do.  This is probably true but the way their parents treated they help them to grow up as strong people.  Today, children are becoming more and more spoiled.  They get everything they want and don’t appreciate it.  There is one show on the T.V. that talks about kids who have parents that spend hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars just for a birthday party.  The kids don’t even appreciate the great things that they receive.  Some even complain about the type of car they get as a present.  This spoiling that is happening to kid’s shapes them into mean demanding teenagers and greedy adults.  This comes to show one reason to why people in the past were friendlier than people today.  I bet that in the past, no one was spending over a million dollars for their child’s birthday party.

People nowadays are also used to a new setting with fast paced electronics and a faster moving environment. People don’t have the time to be friendly.  In the past, people were much slower paced and we able to put in the time to make great friends and be one too.  Another thing is the fact that people nowadays tend to move more, due to many problems like a loss of job, divorce, or just for the new environment.  This causes a loss of old friends and a start of new ones.  Constantly moving is not good for a close friendly relationship.  In the past, people were more likely to stay in one place, thus keeping their friends close and being better people.

I believe that people in the past were friendlier than people in the present due to many new changes in people’s life.  Nowadays there are more things that people like to judge on whether it is dressing differently, or liking the same sex.  In the past there were not as many things to judge on in a person that gives you a perspective on them.  People knew each other by greeting and getting to know the person before judging them.  People also tended to live a slower paced, life and not moving as often. This increases their chance of becoming a nicer person.  All in all, people in the past were friendlier than people living today.

My Favorite Superhero

My favorite super hero is Ironman over all the other super heroes because Ironman is a

human who made his own powers.   I don’t believe in other worlds like the place where Thor or Superman came from or the world of the green lantern people because they probably don’t exist.  I also don’t believe that you could get super powers from being bitten by a spider.  Ironman however, has a really realistic super suit which gives him his power and this suit could possibly be made in the future.   Although many other super heroes make their own power, like Batman for example, Ironman is strong.  If he fought any other super hero that made their own powers, Ironman would win.  His weaknesses are big hit on his end, but he always has a plan to catch and protect his weakness.   Ironman is overall my favorite superhero because he makes his powers, is really powerful, and protects his weaknesses from harm.

The main reason I like Ironman over all the other super heroes is because he does not get his power from unrealistic ideas and thoughts, but instead uses his brain and his money to put time into making a suit that gives him really powerful qualities.  Ironman’s suit is a great invention and is realistic.  I could see such a suit being made in the future and being used or given to a specially ranked military officer.  I mean the future is becoming far more technologically advanced so rapidly that by one hundred years from now, I can believe that people will be flying through the sky just to go to work.  Maybe I may even live to see the day where such a suit is invented and used.  Ironman is probably the only super hero that gives idea to the future of technology.
Ironman is not only my favorite super hero because I like that he invented and created his powers, but I also like that his powers are so powerful for something he invented.  I could understand that heroes from other worlds would have amazingly
strong powers, but a man on Earth who has   powers that almost match that of any other extraterrestrial being, to me, that is amazing.  So many others say that super heroes that were created on Earth are just as amazing, but the way they got their powers is so unrealistic that it would never happen to a human.  Spiders don’t turn people into mutant spider humans just by biting them, and this makes kids do the same thing to see if it works but just end up hurting themselves.  And it is impossible for a human to turn large and green and buff.  The person’s skin would tear, and they can grow that much muscle mass in a few quick seconds.  The green part is just idiotic.  And even thought other super heroes create their own weapons and powers like Batman or the Hawk Eye, they are so weak that I believe Ironman could destroy them with his hands tied to his feet.
Many super heroes have weaknesses and that makes them vulnerable.  Ironman’s weakness is that he has an artificial heart that powers his body with some source of energy.  However, Ironman does a great job in keeping a spare heart, incase his own dies out, and he also protects it really well in his suit of armor.
In all, Ironman is my favorite superhero because he is a human being who makes his own amazingly strong powers by himself and his ideas on a suit that he builds realistically.  I don’t think any other superhero can come close to Ironman’s achievement in the way he obtained his powers and I also believe that Ironman would last and probably beat most of the other super heroes in a fight.
